if i ever leave this world alive
the madness that you feel will soon subside
so in a word don't shed a tear
i'll be here when it all gets weird
Victory Story, Car Crash Hearts, Rape Your Cavities, Destruction of the Detatched, Forever Yours. They were all names of admiration and amazing talent. No matter what they shit out it was still amazing stuff. Dieter felt so at home within Down, Set, Go Records. It was like a creative haven and it was so wonderful because it was very rare to find this meshing point where everyone just accepted everyone. The band nor the genre of music mattered anymore because they were all going through the same struggles and all of them were in it to win it. It was such a difficult time actually getting anywhere with your music because all the kids were looking for nowadays was a hot hook and some great breakdowns. Lovers Are Liars crossed that line into incorporating some poetic lyrics and while some kids got hooked by the words that spewed from the vocalists alone, some kids didn't get it. It was trying to make those kids get it that became the burden of the band and it was that burden that had led Dieter all the way to the practice rooms at 10 pm on a Friday night, with his guitar in hand.[/size]
Dieter absolutely loved being in the band and playing music with them but sometimes Dieter needed another creative outlet, an outlet that he took seriously but never had any intention of broadcasting. After all, that would be so cliche with all of the band members pulling solo projects out of their asses recently. He didn't want to be another name in that category but he especially didn't want the guys thinking he was backing out when he definitely wasn't. This was just an opportunity to knock out some stress and just write some good acoustic music. It was therapy for him, a much needed therapy when they were writing a new album.
He entered the quiet and dimly lit building, his sneakers clapping on the tiled floor before he took a right and walked down a small hallway. Near the end was a door and he opened it slowly, managing his guitar case through the doorway before walking down the stairs and into the basement. Surprisingly, every room was completely empty and he was weirdly grateful for that. Everyone was out probably partying anyways. He opened one of the doors into the single cell practice rooms and flicked on the light before closing the door behind him. The nice white padded room was a welcoming and comforting sight as it always was and it made him exhale a sigh of relief. He pulled off his hoodie and hung on the back of the metal chair inside before putting his guitar case on his lap and opening it to reveal a beautiful and highly polished acoustic guitar, the first guitar that Dieter ever bought with his own money. Dropping the case onto the floor, he set the guitar on his leg and pulled out a guitar pick from his pocket, gently strumming to see if it needed tuning. Once he was satisfied with its sound he started randomly playing chords. After a while the random sounds coming from the guitar formed a nice song. That was when he started to just sing randomly along with the guitar, just messing around. Tonight was all for him to just play, it wasn't to get anything serious out of.
